The internet has made it easier to reach out and made it easier to communicate with clients, organizations, suppliers, and each other. The world wide web is just one part of the internet, and web pages can offer new opportunities.I start with the presumption that the goal of a web page is to enhance exposure and awareness, perhaps even offer additional business opportunities. If you can present you work on an attractive web page, and do so affordably, it can be a nice adjunt to your business.
I don't encourage people to anticipate web sales to replace present marketing approaches, but to enhance them. If internet sales increase in the future to allow more flexability in choices, all the better.
**********Page Purpose*********** Why do you want a web page? (Purpose?) Ego (OK, but don't let it get in the way ) Offer a portfolio of your products. Where to Purchase Studio location Retail outlets Offer internet ordering Market your services Solicit custom work Trade show schedule **********Page design************* Target your audience Keep it simple...present the product Images need to represent work to the customer, not compete with other websites, so don't think you have to have expensive really "slick" pictures. (But if you already have them, all the better) A reasonably priced digital camera, with software to enhance the pictures will do just fine.Make it personal...present yourself Our customers want purchase a part of us with each item, so introduce yourself. Tell them about yourself, your work, your outlook, and your history. We do that in person, and it's even more important on the internet.
Make it convenient...easy to understand and navigate. Catch their interest on the front page with your product, a little about it, and about you. Don't put too much information, it could overwhelm them. If you get their attention, and they want to learn more, they will click over to your following pages
